Terrified puppy brought into shelter crying and screaming by someone who ‘found him’

When a volunteer at the East Valley Los Angeles Shelter had been in the lobby ready to help the inordinate amount of dogs being surrendered late last week, she observed a small dog, allegedly a stray being brought into the shelter.

“I’ve seen dogs shaking in fear when they first enter the shelter, but I cannot recall having ever seen a dog display such fear and cry in such distress. My cynical side wondered how the person who ‘found’ the dog was able to handle him.”

The staff was extremely gentle with the puppy; he was placed in a shelter cage with another dog, and the two are doing great together. Bander is treat motivated and he really loves turkey. There is one animal control officer at the shelter that Bander seems to trust, but when potential adopters walked by his cage, he growled and would not let them touch him.

The eight-month-old puppy’s name is Bander. He has been neutered and was in fairly good condition when he arrived at the shelter. So where is his family? Bander will need a special person to adopt him; someone who can help him regain his confidence and trust in people. Most likely, the best scenario for Bander would be an approved rescue organization where this young pup could get the help he needs before finding his forever family.

Please share this puppy’s plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives. Follow Bander’s story here.
