The Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation, located in Sherman Oaks, California, were contacted about a dog that had been living in the parking lot of a trucking company. People had been trying to catch him for the last ten days, but were unsuccessful. Because he was terrified of humans, anyone who approached him closer than 20 feet, the pup would bolt and run away.
And then the team of rescuers arrived and formulated a plan. For the next 24-hours, the volunteers searched for him, followed him and spoke softly to him in order to gain the pup’s trust. Finally, on Wednesday evening, they were able to catch him.
Once caught, his rescuers were able to do a cursory examination and noticed he limped on his left rear leg. He is currently at the organization’s partner veterinarian where he is being evaluated and examined. Once he is medically cleared, he will need an immediate foster home.
“He is still slightly skittish but extremely sweet. We gave him a bath and he spent his first night feeling safe in a quiet home.
We don’t know his story – how he ended up on the streets or why he was so terrified of people. What e do know is he is a survivor and he deserves a home.”
