A special needs dog is desperately seeking a home of her own. The two-year-old “pocket pitty,” named Polly, has spent nearly her entire life in the shelter system and those who love her are hopeful that the right family is out there somewhere.
Polly’s Petfinder biography indicates that she is a loving dog, with a multitude of wonderful attributes:
loving, playful, friendly, cuddler, silly, goofy, lovable, affectionate, happy, special needs
Her rescue group, Serenity Animal Adoptions, outlines her special needs (and her endearing personality):
She came to us from St.Clair Animal Control in March of 2019 as a special needs/medical case. She has spinal damage that has caused her to walk on the wrong part of her feet leaving her with blisters and incontinence meaning she cannot hold her potty like “normal” dogs.
Since coming to us Polly has seen numerous specialists, attended physical therapy, gotten chiropractic care, received acupuncture, gotten an MRI…
She has improved but Polly will likely never walk like a normal dog. But that’s the point…Polly isn’t normal.She is special in every single way.
Special in the way that she loves you unconditionally.
Special in the way that she smiles with her teeth and her whole face lights up when she sees you.
Special in the way that she appreciates every little thing in life because she has been denied so many of them through no fault of her own. Like a car ride, a walk outside of the kennels, or chewing on her favorite toy.
