Special four-month-old blind puppy looking for a loving home

In Kalamazoo, Michigan, the most adorable four-month-old puppy is waiting for her forever family. Stevie happens to be a special needs pup who was born blind with microphthalmia, a birth defect that means her eyes are too small and underdeveloped. Because of this, she will require a special home.

Found as a stray in Kalamazoo, she came to Kalamazoo Animal Rescue and is 21-pounds of cuteness and ready for a loving home.

“Stevie loves attention, playing tug-of-war with rope toys, and snuggling with her humans. She also likes to play with the other dogs in her foster home but plays hard and is dominant. She is gaining confidence with new experiences but will always need to be introduced to new things slowly as she lacks confidence in new spaces, especially outdoor,” the organization posted on their Facebook page.

Stevie will need a patient adopter who can continue clicker training with her. She knows how to sit, doesn’t mind being in her crate and happily finds it relaxing especially with a peanut butter stuffed bone to enjoy. She continues to work on her housetraining skills and will need to learn the layout of her new home.

The puppy’s advocate say she is dominant with other dogs already and will require proper socialization skills and training with new dogs as she matures. Her enthusiasm for treats will help her to learn.
