In Aventura, Florida, a veterinarian has been accused of possessing child pornography and sexually abusing a dog. Prentiss Madden, 40, was arrested by federal authorities on Tuesday and is being held pending a bond hearing on Friday.
According to the press release from the Southern District of Florida Justice Department ,Madden was the medical director of Caring Hands Animal Hospital located in Miami. He had been fired two weeks ago when his colleagues were made aware Madden had been under investigation after law enforcement had received information linking Madden to child pornography images. A search warrant of Madden’s home uncovered a cell phone alleged to belong to Madden, containing several sexually explicit videos and images of minors including chats that discussed abuse of children and animals.
In a statement, Caring Hands Animal Hospital stated they were “appalled by the nature of the charges.”
“Our legal team and every single member of the Caring Hands will be doing everything in our power to aid law enforcement and facilitate their investigation and prosecution.”
In their affidavit, agents claimed they discovered more than 1000 images of child pornography and links depicting alleged bestiality at the animal hospital. The criminal complaint charges Madden with one count of child pornography, one count of possessing child pornography and one count of animal crushing. If convicted, Madden faces up to 37 years in prison.
