On Monday, tiny Elijah was brought up to the Dallas Dog – Rescue.Rehab.Reform from South Florida. The senior Chihuahua had been brought into a local shelter with trauma to his face; he was just skin and bones. What could have happened to this frightened little dog?
“We are thinking that someone kicked him as there are no other injuries. His jaw is broken and already necrotic his eye is bulging and will need to be removed…”
Veterinarians believe Elijah had been kicked in the head and suffered blunt force trauma to his face. On Monday, he was rushed into surgery where parts of his jaw had to be removed. At this time it was too risky to remove his eye.
“Although most of the senior pup’s past remains a mystery, it is evident that he has suffered deeply… As soon as he arrived, they quickly took him into emergency surgery which cost about $1,500. Once he has recovered from that procedure, he will need an additional surgery to have his eye removed.”
He spent some time recovering at the hospital, before he headed to his foster home to recuperate.
