Andover, NJ

Two extraordinarily long years ago, a German shepherd named Ross was surrendered to a shelter after his owner died. Amazingly, the handsome “gentle giant” continues to wait for someone to take him home.

One Step Closer Animal Shelter writes:

Ross is an 8 year old German Shepard mix and an absolute favorite with the shelter staff. He was unfortunately surrendered after his elderly owner passed away and has been in rescue for 2 years now with little adoption interest. Although Ross is a love here at the shelter, he is stressed, and we know he would be much happier in a home where he can spend his golden years with his best friend.

Adding:

At 121 pounds, Ross is a gentle giant; he walks well on a leash, knows how to sit, lay down, and give paw, and loves belly rubs, walks, and lounging in the sun. Ross is in need of a one-person home. He is protective and incredibly loyal to those he loves, so a quiet, single adult home would be his ideal setting. Ross’s person will be the center of his world; therefore, he would do best in a home without other animals or children.

According to the rescue group, Ross is “easy to please,” and he enjoys peanut butter filled Kongs and his stuffed car.

The group adds:

At the shelter, Ross takes daily joint supplements, but is otherwise healthy (he does not have any major medical concerns and is not on any medications). He is fully vetted, microchipped, neutered, 4DX negative, fecal test, and up to date on preventatives and vaccines.

Once your application is approved, a meet and greet will be scheduled to meet Ross in person at the shelter location. We do ask for adopters to live within a 2 hour radius of Andover NJ, as we do not transport our animals. Ross’s adoption fee is $100.
