An Idaho animal shelter has stepped in to assist a Boise couple who was struggling to care for dozens of pets. On Monday, the Idaho Humane Society recounted the rescue effort:
A few days ago, we came to the aid of vulnerable seniors living in Boise with 32 Papillons, one Labrador retriever, and three parakeets. They had become overwhelmed with their living situation, and we stepped in so we could provide medical care and eventual adoption.
Some of the dogs were socialized – others not, and many require medical care.
The shelter writes:
Our amazing volunteers and staff have already begun the process of vaccinating, bathing, and grooming them; about half will be receiving much-needed dental cleanings and mass removal surgeries.
Special thanks to the Boise Police Department and our Animal Care and Control officers who took the time to talk through this difficult decision with the owners and for safely bringing these at-risk pets back to our shelter.
