A sea turtle entangled in a fishing net and washed up onto the beach unable to move, escaped an untimely death from supermodel Gisele Bundchen who filmed and posted the rescue endeavor on her Instagram page, urging people to become more aware of situations created by mankind and their ultimate impact on wildlife and the planet.

In the video, Bündchen, 41, squats down and starts to carefully untangle the large upside down sea turtle from the knotted up netting while speaking in Portuguese.

“Early this morning I was walking on the beach and Onyx started barking at a pile of ocean trash that had washed during high tide. When I came closer I saw this beautiful turtle turned upside down with a look of hopelessness and exhaustion in her eyes, her body knotted and entangled in a fishing net. I immediately started to free her from the net that was strangling her, but even after we got her untied, she was too tired to make her way back to the ocean.

Once she was able to untangle and remove the netting off of the turtle, she turned it over, but the turtle didn’t seem strong enough to paddle back into the water; obviously too tired from struggling to become untangled and right herself. And so Giselle gently pulled its flipper upright, picked up the turtle and carried her back to the edge of the sea.

I didn’t think twice. I just picked her up and carry [sic] her to the water, (amazing how adrenaline can make you stronger)”

The turtle seemed to rest for a few moments, and once realizing the ocean was in front of her, started flapping its flippers traveling back into the shallow waters. In a short time, the turtle seemed to have recaptured her strength and swam away into the deeper waters.

Bundchen has been an outspoken critic of needing to pay attention to our environment and the animals with which we share the planet. In the past, she stopped wearing fur for advertising campaigns and admitted she had never thought about the cruelty and the impact until PETA sent her videos of what was happening.

God bless you for saving a beautiful sea turtle, while spreading awareness about how WE are KILLING all living things on our planet just to serve a SELFISH drive to have EVERYTHING WE WANT, as EXHAUST all resources. Just curious, do any of YOU care about what YOU ARE LEAVING to YOUR OWN grandchildren?
