On Wednesday, a South Carolina animal rescue suffered a huge loss when a devastating fire destroyed the animal welfare agency president’s home. The blaze destroyed the primary foster home for Whiskey’s Animal Rescue in Sandy Springs. The rescue group posted images of the destroyed home, writing:
Tragedy struck our rescue today. Our president’s home burned, a total loss. Her home is the core of our rescue, the farm that they operate houses almost all of our foster dogs.
Against all odds, the dogs in the home were saved. Whiskey’s Animal Rescue writes:
She went into the fire and was able to save all of the dogs inside, her daughter suffered mild respiratory issues assisting with the rescue. other than that everybody is out in safe but our loss is astronomical.
The dogs are safe, but the rescue group lost kennels, supplies and all of their medication for the rescue dogs. Sadly, the home was not insured. The agency explains:
They were dropped from home owners insurance several years ago for housing aggressive breeds, they have nothing. We are determined to rebuild our rescue.
