Police in Syracuse, New York, are seeking answers in an animal cruelty investigation involving a dog who fell from the back of a moving truck. On Tuesday, the Syracuse Police Department issued a release about the incident, writing:
On January 24th, 2021, at around 8:40 pm, a dog newly named Winston, was seriously injured after falling from the bed of a pickup truck. The vehicle was traveling on Nottingham Rd. near Broad St. on the eastside of Syracuse.
According to the authorities, the dog fell from the bed of the truck, and the driver did not stop. Thanks to a good Samaritan, the injured dog was retrieved and the police were notified about what happened.

The authorities provided a description of the man driving the truck, writing:
The suspect vehicle is a small, dark, two-door pickup truck. A passenger in the vehicle is described as a 20s, white male, with a beard, long hair, and last seen wearing a baseball-style cap.

The dog is being treated for injuries and is recuperating in a foster home through HumaneCNY.
