As Jared and Kristi Owens arrived at the Lubbock Airport in Texas, little did they know that their five-pound Chihuahua had stowed away in one of their suitcases.

Yikes! According to KcbdNews, the couple had been in line at the Southwest Airlines counter last weekend heading to Las Vegas when their suitcase weighed an extra five pounds. As Kristi opened the suitcase to rearrange some of the items, out popped their dog Icky, who had jumped into the suitcase as the couple packed and burrowed into one of Jared’s boots.

“They put it on the scale and this bag is basically like five, five and a half pounds overweight. Really quickly we are like, oh, we have got to rearrange some stuff. Opens it up and literally, there’s our dog coming out of my boot, coming out of my boot with his head bopping up,” Kristi told news media.

Fortunately an airport employee offered to sit for the dog while the couple were away for the weekend.

Chihuahuas are well known to burrow and have used that skill to find food and seek shelter. Who could be angry with Icky?

Many thanks to a dog loving employee who saved the vacation trip for the couple.

  1. Yes, thank goodness someone stepped up to help and may God bless them. I just hope and pray that they’re not one of those who come across as an animal lover, then pulverizes the poor dear near to death while in their care. REMINDER DO NOT USE ROVER PET SITTERS, AS THERE ARE NOW 46 CASES (and growing weekly) PENDING ACROSS THE COUNTRY BY PET PARENTS WHO MADE THE GRAVE MISTAKE OF USING ROVER. Apparently, Rover does NOT screen their people, they take their word, call a (yes as in ONE) former employer and that’s IT!

  2. You don’t check on your dog before locking up the house for a vacation , then you leave the dog with a stranger??? Need some basic dog care instruction!!
