At a public park near Sherman Oaks, California, two terribly matted dogs were dumped early Thursday morning in the parking lot. Based upon their condition, it was quite apparent the two had been neglected for a very long time. As their rescuers picked them up into their arms to transport them to an emergency veterinary hospital, the dogs cried out in pain. At the time it was not even possible to tell if they were male or female; their mats completely covered their tiny bodies.

The Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation rushed them to their partner veterinarian where they are receiving a complete workup and needed vaccinations. The two, now named Bobbie and Marley, will be shaved and bathed in order to remove mats, fleas and ticks. It is still not known if the dogs have any conditions or injuries that were not initially diagnosed.

“Upon rescue they were both so confused and timid but despite what they have been through, they have lovingly warmed up to our staff. They are friendly, sweet and although scared, they are very forgiving of people considering the neglect they have experienced.”
