In Los Angeles, California, a man was reunited with his cat on Thursday, 15 years after she mysteriously disappeared. The cat’s microchip had been registered to her owner, and just like that the Palmdale Animal Care Center was able to do their magic.
According to the Palmdale Animal Care Center Facebook page, her family never though they would be reunited with their cat named Brandy, until Officer Leal rescued the injured cat after responding to a report about a hurt stray and brought her back to the shelter for care. Besides being injured and old, Brandy was friendly, healthy and happy.
When checked for a microchip, her identity was able to be verified and her owner contacted. A statement released by the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care & Control stated:
“Charles was completely shocked to hear that his cat Brandy was located as he had not seen her in over 15 years. He was so happy you could hear it in his voice over the phone. Charles was very emotional and continued sharing with Sgt. Valles that Brandy went missing over 15 years ago and he never thought he would see her again.”
No one knows where Brandy has been, but doesn’t this just say it all for microchipping your pets? Many thanks to Sgt. Valles.
