A six year old dog named Sawyer has spent the majority of life without a home and family of his own. In fact, five years of Sawyer’s life have been spent at a Glen Cove, New York, animal shelter.
On Sawyer’s Facebook page, more information is provided about his situation:
I was found wandering Glen Cove over 5 years ago, and I just want out from behind these shelter walls so badly that my nickname is Houdini. (Shhh I can magically open gates)
I’m about 6 years young, very smart, I learn pretty quickly, know my basic commands, and love a good adventure.
I have spent most of my life at the shelter, but like Tom Sawyer, it’s time to move on.
Take that in for a moment…Sawyer is six years old and has spent five of his six years of life at a shelter. How sad is that?
Sawyer’s restrictions include:
I am dog selective and occasionally get along with dogs my size only, a meet and greet would be required. But would really prefer to be your only fur baby. I am sorry I do not get along with cats.

Adopting Sawyer
Potential adopter must be able to visit & work with Sawyer and his trainer . Near by states are fine as long as your willing to travel to work with him .
