Once a pristine looking Great Pyrenees months on the street have taken its toll

No one really knows why the owners of a once pristine looking Great Pyrenees in Texas decided to throw their dog away as if she was trash, but the months on the streets scavenging for food and just trying to survive have taken their toll.

Everyday neighbors watched and did nothing; no one called Animal Control, and no one seemed to care whether this gentle soul lived or died.

And then came this dog’s lucky break over the weekend when young children spotted the dog and coaxed her into one of their backyards until her mother returned home from work. Volunteers offering to help were soon alerted and Rescue Dogs Rock NYC reached out to help.

The dog, now named Annie is finally off the streets and in the care of the rescue organization’s partner veterinarian hospital where she is receiving the care she needs. Annie is emaciated, malnourished and suffers from severe skin lacerations and infections all over her body.

“We wonder about that large collar that looks so strange on her now that she’s a skeleton?,” the rescue posted along with the heartbreaking photos of a dog that surely didn’t deserve such blatant lack of care and neglect.
