Officials are hoping that a necropsy on Bowie, a dog that was killed in a horrific attack on a woman in Atlanta, Georgia, will lead to DNA that can help find the killer. As reported by Fox 5 News, Bowie was being walked by his owner, Katherine Janness, when someone attacked them last week in Piedmont Park.
The crime scene was described as “gruesome,” with Janness suffering multiple, fatal stab wounds. Now investigators are hopeful that a necropsy on Bowie will provide answers – it is believed that Bowie definitely engaged with the attacker while trying to protect Janness, and that there could be DNA from the killer somewhere on his body, or in his mouth.
If DNA can be found, it will be put into a criminal database to see if there is a match.
