Yesterday, a small dog in the midst of an unlikely crisis was given a helping hand by officers with the Port Authority agency in New Jersey. According to the New York Daily News, an emergency call for help went out on Wednesday afternoon after a little dog named Scott got one of his paws stuck in a moving escalator at a PATH station.

The dog, and his owner, were terrified, but Port Authority officers in the vicinity were able to rush to the scene and quickly lend assistance. The officers went to work to remove a plate to free Scott’s rear paw – the pooch suffered some injuries that required veterinary attention and the hero officers went a step further, hailing a taxi and covering the fare to get Scott to a veterinary hospital.
