In Miami, a woman from Cutler Bay faces Grand Theft in the dognapping of a Pomeranian puppy from inside of a veterinary office at the Best Care Animal Clinic. Madelyn Acosta appeared in court on Friday, and bail was set at $5,000. Acosta must also stay at least 500 feet away from the animal clinic.

According to Miami CBSNews, the June 4 dognapping caught on surveillance video showed Acosta, 45, sitting in the lobby of the clinic when she “opened a black bag that didn’t belong to her and removed a small dog without the owner’s permission. She then concealed the small dog underneath her shirt and walked out.”

The owner of the eight-week-old puppy had been at the veterinarian office to obtain its health certificate; the puppy was stolen as the owner was paying at the counter. Lenier Mesa was devastated at the loss of her puppy named Panda and posted the video of the puppy being stolen on her Instagram. She offered a $1,000 reward.

Mesa did get Panda returned safely.
