A Miami veterinarian will be sentenced to more than 21 years in prison for sexually abusing dogs, posting bestiality videos online and collecting child pornography. Prentiss K. Madden was sent to prison on Friday.

According to the Sun Sentinel, Prentiss Madden, 40, the medical director of Caring Hands Animal Hospital in Aventura, pleaded guilty in July to child porn and animal cruelty charges, stated the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Southern District of Florida.

Officers from Homeland Security found “animal crush” videos and multiple chats about bestiality on his cell phone. Also discovered, were “thousands” of images referencing sexually abusing children. Weeks before his arrest in February 2021, Madden “knowingly possessed 1,667 visual depictions that were produced with minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct,” according to the plea agreement. Some of the animal abuse is alleged to have occurred at the animal hospital.

Federal law prohibits “animal crush” videos – animal cruelty where deviant people record animal torture for sexual gratification. Madden pleaded guilty to one count.

His attorneys sought a lighter sentence based on Madden’s claims that he suffered mental problems as a result of abuse by his parents and a family friend as a child.

Once Madden is released from prison, he will remain on probation for 25 years and must register in Florida as a sex offender.
