Update 9/29/2021: Patrick McDowell was arrested on Tuesday afternoon after being cornered in a bathroom at the Kirsten Higginbotham Sports Complex in Callahan. A K9 was utilized when McDowell failed to fully comply with the authorities; McDowell suffered bites on one arm.
A manhunt is underway for a former Marine who is believed to be responsible for killing a Nassau County Deputy, and injuring a K9 with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Authorities in Florida are searching for 35-year-old Patrick McDowell, who shot Deputy Joshua Moyers during a traffic stop early Friday morning in Callahan. As reported by WFLA News, the 29-year-old deputy died on Sunday from gunshot wounds to his face and back.
K9 Chaos was also shot by McDowell – the dog was injured but is expected to survive.
As of Monday morning, the reward for finding McDowell had grown to $54,000. The man is considered to be armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is advised to call 1-866-845-8477 or dial **TIPS (star star 8477).
McDowell has tattoos that the authorities have shared to help with identification.
