A man in Walla Walla, Washington, is in jail after his wife called the police to tell them that he had been beating their family dog with a two-by-four. As reported by KOMO News, 37-year-old Alfredo Lombera-Gonzalez was arrested on Tuesday after deputies with the Walla Walla Sheriff’s Department responded to Lombera-Gonzalez’s wife’s call for help.
According to the man’s wife, she heard banging upstairs, and she could hear their German shepherd whimpering. When she went to investigate, she could see that one of her dog’s teeth had been knocked out and could see blood dripping from the dog’s mouth.
The suspect claimed that the dog “came after him” but the authorities found no evidence to indicate that the dog had hurt him at all. According to the wife, the three-year-old dog has never shown aggression to them.
Deputies arrested the man on suspicion of first-degree animal cruelty. There is no information about the current condition of the dog.
