Man jailed after admitting that he shot neighbor’s dog because she pooped in his yard

A Montgomery County, Texas, man was jailed and is facing a felony animal cruelty charge after he admitted to shooting his neighbor’s dog, Luna, because she had pooped in his yard. According to the Houston Chronicle, 76-year-old Rolf Meier was arrested on May 7 for the fatal shooting, which happened in March.

Meier told a responding deputy that he was tired of cleaning up Luna’s feces from his yard, and he denied ever feeling threatened by the Labrador retriever. The dog, who lived next door to Meier, died approximately 10 minutes after being shot with a Gamo .177 air rifle. Her owners said that Luna was “weaving side to side” after being shot, and stated that she was making “gurgling sounds.”

Luna’s owners tried to get their dog to a veterinarian for care, but she died on the way. A necropsy on her body revealed that she had died from “metallic air gun pellets perforating her right lung.”

Meier is facing a third-degree felony for the March 10 incident; he is currently free on bond.

Good thing he didn’t do that to one of my dogs, because the work the police would have to do would have BEEN ENTIRELY different and there would be NO WORRIES that he gets away with ANY THING! PERIOD!

Do the same thing to this worthless piece! All he had to do was talk to his neighbors about the dog and maybe she would still be alive! Rest in Peace Luna! You didn’t deserve to die!
