A man in South Charleston, West Virginia, is accused of a gruesome crime that claimed the life of his pet cat. As reported by WSAZ News, Gabriel Kekel is accused of giving his cat a lethal dose of a narcotic before dismembering the feline’s body. Cpt. Pat Rader with the South Charleston Police Department told the news agency what they found during the July 20 welfare check:
“He didn’t seem like he was all there, so they brought him in to talk to him (more), to make sure he was OK (and) he started disclosing some things that were fairly bizarre, stuff you read about or maybe see in a movie.”
The accused man told officers that after giving the cat narcotics, he used a machete to cut off its head and dismember the body. Kekel proceeded to bring the officers several jars containing parts of his deceased cat.
Kekel was booked into the South Central Regional Jail and he is facing multiple animal cruelty related charges.
