A man in San Antonio, Texas, tried to claim that his dead dog, who he was spotted carrying by the neck at an apartment complex this past August, had died from depression. As reported by KSAT San Antonio, when neighbors confronted 40-year-old William Rose about the dead dog, whose name was Rocky, he told them that he was taking him on a final walk. One person who observed the disturbing situation noted that the dog appeared to have wire around his neck.

But Rose’s story fell apart after animal control officers seized the dog and had a necropsy performed – the exam revealed that the dog had actually died from strangulation.

Rose has been arrested and he is facing a charge for cruelty to non-livestock animals.
