A 27-year-old New York man has been arrested and is facing charges for allegedly killing a German shepherd puppy and throwing the puppy’s body into the trash. According to the New York State Police, Raymond A. Mangieri, of Peru, was arrested and charged on February 10 following an investigation into the young dog’s death.
As reported by Sun Community News, the puppy, named Ace, had been reported missing by his owner, who had turned to social media in an effort to bring the pup home. Not long after the puppy disappeared, a Facebook post was made indicating that Ace had been found deceased.
The New York State Police news release outlines the arrest and charge:
Mangieri was charged with Aggravated Cruelty to Animal, a class E felony under the New York State Agriculture and Markets Law. He was virtually arraigned by the Town of Saranac Court and released on his own recognizance.
He is scheduled to return to the Peru Town Court at a later date. Mangieri, a New York State Parolee, was then transported to Clinton County Jail for a violation of his parole.
