A Florida man was arrested over the weekend after he tied his dog to a tree in a public park and shot it. As reported by Click Orlando, the authorities have identified 30-year-old Isaiah Beavers as the man who shot his dog at Bracco Pond Park, in Cocoa, on Sunday.
A witness to the cruel incident reached out to the authorities and an officer who responded spotted Beavers’ red Hyundai SUV and pursued him as he drove away from the scene. While trying to elude the police, Beavers through something out of his vehicle – later, after the man was stopped, the authorities found a shotgun which had been tossed from the SUV.
The police report shows that Beavers admitted to the crime and provides his explanation:
“Isaiah spontaneously told me that he and his girlfriend had been having some problems with the dog being aggressive and attempting to bite them, and they no longer wanted the dog. Isaiah then explained that he tied the dog to a tree and shot the dog with the intent of ending the dog’s life.”
The dog’s injuries were severe enough that humane euthanasia was the only option.
Beavers is a convicted felon with a long history of offenses dating back to 2009. In the past, he has been charged with domestic violence, armed robbery, soliciting prostitution, grand theft and more. The most recent incident adds animal cruelty to his list of wrong-doings.
