A man in Bellingham, Washington, was arrested after threatening to drown a cat in a bathtub full of water. As reported by the Bellingham Herald, 27-year-old Kapier Akana Robinson allegedly held the cat over a tub full of water during a domestic dispute; the cat got away and was not injured in the ordeal.

The incident happened on the night of October 10 when Robinson was engaged in a domestic dispute with the cat’s owner. He allegedly threatened to drown the cat in the bathtub, while the water was running. The cat managed to escape and the victim secured the feline and got out of the residence.

The suspect had sent prior texts to the victim, threatening to hurt the cat. The police found the bathroom door broken off of the hinges and a hole in the wall from the doorknob; Robinson was acting “aggressively” when the police arrived.

Robinson was arrested on multiple charges, including suspicion of first-degree animal cruelty (domestic violence), harassment (domestic violence) and third-degree malicious mischief (domestic violence); he was released on $1,000 bond on October 14.
