A kitten has defied the odds after being whisked away by violent carjackers in November 2020. As reported by KSTP News, when Bentley was just four-months-old, carjackers stole his owner’s car from a Richfield, Minnesota, gas station, while he was inside.
Bentley’s owner, Luke Lipinski, recounted the harrowing situation to KSTP:
I stopped to get some gas with a friend of mine and Bentley was in the car. He wouldn’t get out of the car. The people that were in that guy’s group, and in the other car, were yelling to shoot us. Shoot us with a gun so they could just drive away,”
Day later, the car was found in Minneapolis, but young Bentley was nowhere to be found. Lipinski and his wife, Renee, turned to social media in an effort to find the missing Maine Coon kitten, but their efforts seemed to be fruitless. Lipinski said:
After countless false leads and whatnot, it did get pretty exhausting over time.
When the bitterly cold temperatures of winter arrived, the couple lost hope that Bentley could have survived in the cold.
Amazingly, four months after young Bentley vanished, the couple received a text message that he had been found in Minneapolis. The text came in after the cat approached a stranger, who recognized him from the missing cat posts on Facebook. Thanks to an embedded microchip, it was confirmed that the friendly stray was indeed…Bentley.
Bentley is back home with his family – his ears show the toll that the cold took on his body, but against all odds, he has finally been reunited with his grateful owners.
