A federal judge has ordered all lion and tiger cubs at the “Tiger King” zoo, in Oklahoma, to be turned over to the federal government. As reported by Fox News, U.S. District Judge John F. Heil III issued the order last week.

Jeffrey and Lauren Lowe took the zoo over from Joseph Maldonado-Passage, aka “Joe Exotic,” who is currently in prison for charges stemming from a murder-for-hire plot, as well as federal wildlife violations. The Lowes allegedly violated the Endangered Species Act, and the Animal Welfare Act.

Assistant Attorney General Jonathan D. Brightbill of the Justice Department’s Environment and Natural Resources Division said:

“The Lowes have showed a shocking disregard for both the health and welfare of their animals, as well as the law.”
