Jail time for groomer who broke service dog’s tail

James Suthann, a Florida dog groomer who broke the tail of a service dog in 2019, has been sentenced to jail time. As reported by Click on Orlando, The 39-year-old man has been sentenced to 180 days in jail for the incident which resulted in the amputation of the German shepherd’s tail.

Suthann was sentenced on Monday after entering a plea of no contest to one count of cruelty to animals, death pain or suffering. After the jail time, Suthann has three years of supervised probation. The incident was captured on surveillance video in February 2019 at Groomingdale’s Pet Spa. As reported by My News 13, Suthann got frustrated when the dog, named TT, wouldn’t sit. Suthann proceeded to twist and pull the dog’s tail until it broke. Sheriff Wayne Ivey, with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, said that it was one of the worst cases of animal cruelty that he had seen.

Suthann is prohibited from owning or working with animals during his probation – he has also been ordered to pay more than $5000 in restitution.

  1. Vile thug ought to have his penis pulled and twisted until it breaks. PERIOD! “Certain men” seem to think they can do anything they want to any living being and walk away with impunity. I am pleasantly surprised that Florida actually did something to protect someone OTHER than a damn man.
