Injured German shepherd has a microchip, but nobody came to shelter to claim him

A German shepherd name PJ was taken in at the Harris County Pets facility in Houston, Texas, and although he has a microchip, nobody came to get him. The seven-year-old German shepherd has an injured leg. On July 12, the Houston Save Lives Is Our Mission Facebook page provided more information:

HANDSOME GERMAN SHEPHERD MALE FOUND WITH MICROCHIP, BUT OWNER IS NOT RESPONDING SO PROBABLY DUMPED, NEEDS A RESCUE!** This handsome but seems neglected, was picked up stray on 77044 on July 7,2021, shelter found has a microchip, but sad after several intents leaving messages, owner is not responding, so now he needs RESCUE!

Adding:

he is limping and has been treated in the back left leg for some type of injury! tested heartworm positive so confirm my idea that he was kept outside as an ornament or guardian purposes, SAD REALITY, people who don’t deserve own this breed at all! PLEASE LET’S HELP HIM find a good new home

PJ as been at the shelter for almost a month – and he is hurt. Please share his adoption information to help him find somewhere safe to go, before it’s too late.
