On Thursday, an injured and frightened dog was found in a dumpster in Warren, Ohio. According to Warren City Environmental Services employees, the dog was purposefully abandoned like unwanted trash.
WKBN News reports that the dog was in a dumpster at the Beal Street Apartments. John Onatz, Warren animal control officer commented on the cruel abandonment, telling the news agency:
“It’s very troubling that someone would do that. All they had to do was pick up the phone, call myself, call the Trumbull County Dog Pound, call the Welfare League, someone would have been more than happy to take the dog away from them.”
The female dog, estimated to be just a year of age, is underweight and has old and new injuries on her body. She was taken to the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County for care.
