An Indiana State Police trooper helped to rescue an abandoned dog dumped out of a vehicle onto I-65 on Sunday. The trooper had been driving on I-65 near I-94 when cars stopped after a dog had been spotted running in and out of traffic.

According to the Indiana State Police, witnesses had seen someone in a van leave the dog on the side of the interstate. The dog was extremely thin and appeared to have been neglected.

Trooper Marlowe quickly became the dog’s hero. With some gentle coaxing and some treats and the aid of some Good Samaritans, Trp. Marlowe was able to lure the dog to safety. She has been named “Grace.”

Grace is only estimated to be between four and six-months of age and a large breed. Grace was transported to the Lake County Animal Control. Let’s hope this sweet dog finds a perfect home.

Many thanks to dog lover State Trooper Allison Marlowe.
