In Cleveland, Texas, a woman taking her two young children to school Thursday morning witnessed two men shooting a young dog in the head. The puppy seemed terrified and tried desperately to escape from her tormentors, but was helpless against their strength and the gun they used to try and kill her. The woman was too scared for her own safety and the safety of her children to approach the men.

After the nearly deadly assault, the woman saw the dog dragging herself across the street. She crawled into a ditch and collapsed.

The woman who witnessed this heartbreaking situation posted on social media for help:

“Good morning vesin@s. Iva on my way to my kids school to drop them off, and I just witnessed a very sad scene. 2 men one with gun in hand shooting crazy husky dog. They killed him with no compassion. Had to sign them stop cause kids were watching oh a missing bullet. I feel helpless. I couldn’t do anything for the puppy. He looked so scared he wanted to escape but he couldn’t.”

When rescuers arrived from ThisIsHouston, they hurried to the location and reported she had blood coming from her head but didn’t appear to have any wounds.

She was conscious and has been transported to Vergi 24/7 Emergency Veterinarian Care. The woman reporting the disturbing scene has been notified and is glad to know the dog is still alive.

“A million thank you for saving her, I was in shock I didn’t know what to do. I was scared for my life and I had my kids with me. I tried to get them to stop shooting her but I was scared they were going to shoot me to they were angry they shot her at least 10 times. I took my kids to school. They are in the principal’s office someone is speaking to them. They are traumatized. She said she can’t get the dog’s face out of her head. She sees her face pleading for help and in pain and she hears her kids screaming in the back ‘why are they shooting her why are they killing her. Make them stop.”
