In Fountain Hills, Arizona, a dog became a hero when he helped to save a cat left in a plastic bag and stuffed inside of a cooler outside of an animal rescue over the weekend.

According to the Fearless Kitty Rescue, a woman had been walking her husky, Koda along the Avenue of the Fountains, when the dog pulled her over to sniff a zipped up cooler bag. The dog refused to leave, and the woman decided to open the bag.

And there she was – a black cat, and miraculously she was alive. Temperatures that day hovered near the 107 degree mark, and it had been stifling inside of the bag.

The rescue organization has named the kitty Juliane, which means fearless as described from the Danish culture.

No one knows how long Juliane had been trapped in the bag.

“We can’t thank Koda, her mom, and all of Juliane’s heroes enough for coming to her rescue. Who knows how long she had been abandoned and how much longer she could have survived if not found by Koda. Juliane is decompressing in the FKR medical area for the time being. Despite her circumstances, Juliane is a sweetheart, and loves to purr and receive pets. FKR is actively working with law enforcement regarding this incident,” the rescue posted on their Facebook page.

Juliane will be ready for adoption in the next few weeks. Be sure to watch for her on the rescue’s website and social media to track her progress. And if you are interested in adopting Juliane, please contact
