Hertford County animal shelter slated to close and help needed to find homes for the cats and dogs NOW

The Hertford County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina needs help clearing the animal shelter as soon as possible. Following is an emergency appeal for help:

“Due to unforeseen circumstances with staffing, Hertford County Animal Control will not be able to pick up or house dogs and cats at this time. Any type of emergency situations to include dog bites or attacks will still be handled and investigated by the proper jurisdiction within the county. Any updates with this matter will be released to the public as soon as possible.”

The Friends of Hertford Co. Animals NC need pledges and rescues as soon as possible. Some of the cats needing homes:

Seems very friendly and sweet
Remi is a dominant female, but did fine with other dogs; she just tried to stand over them. Would recommend no cats at this time. Needs out asap we are over full.

Hours: Mon-Fri 9-5

If you are interested in adopting or rescuing please contact us by messaging our page or by email.

Rescue process: No pull fee for approved rescues. Please send us your 501c3 approval letter, contact info, and donation info for any pledges these animals might have.

Adoption process: Adoption fee is $30.00 includes rabies vaccine you must go to the Sheriff’s Department located at 701 Taylor St, Winton, NC 27986.

They ask that adopters come between 1-3pm to pay the adoption fee before you are able to take this baby home. Bring photo I.D. Sign shelter adoption contract.

All animals adopted must be scheduled for a spay or neuter within 30 days of adoption.
