In his Connecticut home, Henry the Boston terrier had been extra annoying to his mom on Monday evening by repeatedly bonking the door open to where the woman’s sick baby had been trying to sleep.

According to the Hartford Courant, Henry’s owner, Kelly Dowling kept shooing the dog away so the baby could get some sleep. Henry didn’t give up though, and soon woke the baby up, and Kelly’s anger towards her pooch quickly abated when the mom realized the baby was having a difficult time breathing. The nine-month-old had been sick and on medication.

The door to the nursery had a faulty door latch, and Henry kept battering the door and pushed it open. The dog kept sniffing and staring at the baby and didn’t stop pestering Kelly.

After the baby had been awakened by the dog, her parents said the crying had been different, and that she had been turning blue, so the family of four rushed to Connecticut Children’s Hospital in Hartford where doctors were able to clear the baby’s airways. By the end of the evening, it was clear that Henry had helped to save the infant’s life.

Last night the dog kept breaking into the nursery and waking the baby. She’s been sick and I was getting to fed up with him.

Until she stopped breathing.

We spent the night in the hospital. I don’t know what would have happened if he hadn’t woken her. We don’t deserve dogs.

Henry will be getting more Christmas presents that he could ever expect his mom wrote on Twitter. Kelly is so correct – we don’t deserve dogs.

You are one fabulous canine hero Henry!
