At the Kansas Animal Shelter in Wichita, volunteers witnessed a heartbroken and terrified dog being dragged into the city shelter by two men. The dog was just too scared to walk into the shelter on his own.

His owner had died two weeks prior and family members brought him to the shelter to surrender him.

“There was a mix up at the shelter. First the gentleman took him to the shelter, but they would not accept the dog, so they sent him to the humane society who said they could not help him because he didn’t own the the dog. They sent him back to the city shelter who again said they could not accept him. The man was forced to take the dog back out and put him in his pick up truck.
Finally a supervisor from the Humane Society came out to get the situation sorted out and take the dog back into the rightful place which was the shelter,” a volunteer who was there reported.
Tragically, this boy’s world has been turned upside down and does not understand what happened to his owner and how is it that he isn’t in his home – and instead in a noisy place with lots of strangers and other scared dogs.
“He is completely shut down and in desperate need of someone to help heal his broken heart and save him from the crippling fear he is experiencing,” posted Beauties and Beasts, Inc.

So much sadness.

  1. Some relatives, they were probably happy to take all the dead person’s possessions but when dumping the person’s dog in a shelter couldn’t be bothered to tell them the poor dogs name. Shameful.
