It remains a mystery how dogs view the loss of their humans at death. Suddenly, the human who has cared for and loved them most of their lives is nowhere in sight. In Italy, a beautiful Labrador retriever named Lessie had shared nearly her entire lifetime with her human and when she passed, her grief was overwhelming. Lessie was allowed to attend her human’s funeral and as mourners came and went to pay their last respects, Lessie stayed by the coffin the entire time. When it was time to leave, Lessie refused.
According to Fascinating Things, the photo shared from the funeral home on social media as Lessie jumped into the hearse to accompany her person to the cemetery went viral, She wore a bell around her neck, and the look of sadness in her eyes broke the hearts of readers all over the world.
Even Lessie’s family had become captivated by the dog’s loyalty, and will be caring for her for the rest of her life.
Surely dogs are angels sent to be with us filled with love.
