In Strasbourg, France, a compelling story of a magnificent German shepherd who spent his entire life of eight years locked in a shed, is being shared by the rescue organization that saved him with the help of a local fire department.

Meet Rex, who was never allowed out of his shed; never allowed outside to see the sun shine or feel the grass underneath his paws, never any interaction with humans or other animals, no toys – just the four walls of the prison that confined him, with only an occasional door that slid open to provide him with kibble and a bucket of water. Only the sounds of his own barks and some distant noises made up his entire world for eight years.

On Saturday, Rex was rescued. Firefighters took him out of his prison, and SPA de Strasbourg has committed to helping him socialize and teaching him that humans can indeed to good.

  1. OMG: WHY have a dog if they are not part of the family??? Dogs are pack animals. This was extremely cruel for this precious treasure……. He deserves to be in a loving furever family for the rest of his life!!!
