Smokey is only nine-months-old and has been “Red Listed” which means he is in danger of being euthanized within 48 hours at the discretion of the East Valley Animal Shelter. In order to save this beautiful German shepherd puppy’s life, he must be rescued by a New Hope Partner.

Smokey’s behavioral assessment as per February 24, 2021
“…able to creatively get my leash on him-he would stand on his hind legs and snap/growl at my hand. Able to walk outside without incident. Took to the yard, slightly jumpy and mouthy. Enjoyed chasing the ball. Knows “sit”Able to pet and interact with. Became anxious-vocal once I left the yard to get another dog. Barrier reactive/fence fighting the other dog in the other dog (other dog was interested in play) both dogs ran the fence line. Semi responsive to tools.Did muzzle work, he made a “b line” for the other dog, uninterrupted. Respond to tools and checked in with handler. Able to be in close proximity of the other dog. Started to become frustrated, moved him to the other yard and removed muzzle. Placed in kennel without incident.”
