A Georgia animal rescue agency has taken in a grievously injured dog in heartbreakingly pitiful condition. On Thursday, the Royal Animal Refuge posted graphic images of a dog dubbed Maia, writing:

Imagine being in agonizing pain every minute of your life. Now, imagine not being able to see and you walk into a loud and scary shelter and have no idea what is about to happen next. We could not let Maia spend one more minute at the shelter.

According to the organization, Maia was found in this condition and her condition was so grave that she required immediate veterinary attention. The agency writes:

The excruciating pain that she is in right now is unimaginable and one of the worst neglect cases we have ever seen. Despite everything going on, Maia has allowed staff to handle her and has been patient through it all. We can see that she has multiple issues going on externally, but we are not sure if there are also internal issues

The rescue group will do all that it can to help save this ailing dog, but they need help to cover her veterinary costs. You can find the group’s website at this link.
