In Nassau County, New York, four dogs named Oliver, Winston, Isabelle and Izzy temporarily were checked into the Nassau County SPCA to help their humans recover from Covid-19. At the time, their human mom had been hospitalized, and the young woman’s dad who also was suffering from the virus at home, had been caring for the dogs.
Everyday care for the four dogs progressively became more difficult for the man, but these were his daughter’s dogs and she loved them so much, he was just sure she would recover and her dogs would be ready to greet her when she returned home from the hospital.
One day after the rescue organization took in Oliver, Winston, Isabelle and Izzy, the father was hospitalized and tragically died just a few days later. Everyone held their breath hoping the daughter would recover and her dogs would be so happy to be reunited, but just this week, she died also. The dogs lost everything.
“It breaks our hearts when we look into their little faces and they are asking when they can go home,” the organization posted on their Facebook page,” but we are determined to keep those tails wagging.”

After my parents passed away, we took their dogs. They are very loved and pampered by everyone who meets them…….
Adopting older dogs is rewarding. They are usually house broken, well behaved around visitors, understand that people are the pack leaders, understand commands, enjoy snuggling……. Older dogs are terrific companions!!!
