After days without any sightings of a lost 70-pound goldendoodle at Yellowstone National Park and hopes dimming for her safe return, Delta was found! On Thursday morning, Delta, who had been missing for 16 days, was captured and reunited with her owner.

The black goldendoodle escaped from her owner while visiting the park. According to the dog’s owner, Mike Matsis and a Facebook group, PeteThomasOutdoors, Delta, had been sighted near Artists Paintpots which is located south of the Norris Geyser Basin. The dog did not responded to people calling her nor had she paid any attention to park rangers trying to capture her.

An Idaho based volunteer animal rescue group Ladies and The Trap helped to reunite Delta with her owner. According to Yahoo Sports, a spokesperson for the park confirmed the dog,

“was recovered by her owners at the parking lot where she took off 16 days ago.”

There have not been many details released as to how Delta was captured, but let’s hope everyone with a pet will follow the park’s guidelines to prevent anymore episodes and endangering pets.

  • Pets may only accompany people in developed areas and must remain within 100 feet of roads, parking areas and campgrounds.

  • Pets must be physically controlled at all times: they must be in a car, in a crate, or on a leash no more than six feet long.

  • Pets are not allowed on boardwalks, hiking trails, in the backcountry or in thermal areas.
