At the Wichita, Kansas Animal Shelter, Duke has run out of time, however he has been given a temporary extension, and his story needs to be told. Duke needs a miracle; hearts are breaking for this one-year-old pup. Won’t you read his story and share – just one special person needed to save his life.

Duke was found chained in a dark shed. His homeless owner had been staying on the property without permission. The police contacted Animal Control, and Duke was taken to the shelter along with another canine friend who had not been locked in the shed.

At the shelter, the other dog passed his temperament evaluation and later was transferred to the adoption floor, however Duke had been terrified from his experience and lashed out from behind the bars of his shelter enclosure after he urinated on himself.

Sadly, Duke can not tell his story, but something changed when he met Tom who volunteers at the shelter. On Friday, Tom spent time with Duke and the once frightened dog soon became comforted by the man’s presence. The animal control officer told Tom he resembled the dog’s previous owner in size and stature.

Who can blame Duke for lashing out at humans? What kind of trauma he likely experienced however and his subsequent behavioral assessment earned him a spot on the euthanasia list.

Who would think? Just watch his video and share Duke’s story.

  1. If I didn’t live so far away, I’d go scoop him up right now. So, I pray that someone is inspired to save this sweet guy. He just needs a stable, loving hand combined with some loving patience to give him time to decompress.
