Viola arrived at Brooklyn’s facility of the New York City Animal Care Centers after a kind bus driver finishing his route found her as a stray. Not much is known about Viola’s past, but it doesn’t appear as if this girl was ever a cherished member of anyone’s family.
When Viola was brought into the shelter, every rib was visible and a severe case of dermatitis covered her skinny body with wide black spots. She was later adopted, but then as quickly returned because she didn’t want to release objects she picked up off the street.
“Her adopter reported she’s friendly around strangers, plays gentle with children, relaxed with the small senior male dog she lived with, and loves to cuddle.”
And today is Viola’s last day – it’s almost as if her life doesn’t matter because no one has offered to adopt her.
A volunteer wrote:
“When we peered into Princess fka Viola’s’ kennel we were greeted with the sight of the tiniest spotted cow dozing away peacefully on her bed. We couldn’t bear to wake her, after all finding sleep in a noisy kennel is no easy feat! So we returned a few hours later, and Princess stirred and sleepily made her way to the front of her kennel. Easy to leash and walk, we took this shy mini cow out for a stroll in the sunshine. Her cow patterning extends to the tips of her ears, and she tops the scales at a very thin 41lbs. She is nervous, but affectionate and approaches us to be pet and snuggle in close.”
Given her nervousness and her “eagerness” with treats (a sign on her kennel says she takes them like a shark!) she would be best in a home without very small kids; and with someone who will adore her sweet face for the rest of her days. Princess is estimated to be six years old and has been waiting for her person to appear.
