In Doral, Florida, 30 puppies and one adult dog were rescued and brought to Miami-Dade Animal Services after they were discovered hidden in a garage and kept in the dark.
According to WsvnNews, the puppies had no light, and their pens were filled with their own feces and urine. Dogs were caged and stacked one on top of another inside of a hot garage.
The owner of the puppies, Erick Canoura faces three felony counts of animal cruelty with intent to injure/ kill. When animal control officers arrived, some of the puppies had been moved from the garage, and the family had been hiding them in a closet underneath some laundry. Two puppies were found in a cooler and another one had been thrown over the fence into a neighbor’s yard.
All of the puppies have since been brought to Miami-Dade Animal Services where they are receiving treatment. The rescued pups include Shiba Inus, Toy poodles, Goldendoodles, Labradoodles, Havanese, Pomeranians and Yorkshire terriers. Some of the puppies are currently sick and are being treated. Others have been sent to foster homes to prepare them for future adoptions.
It is not known when they will be ready for adoption.
