Along the coast of Cornwall, a fisherman caught an extremely rare blue lobster while fishing off the coastal town of Penzance.

According to the National Lobster Hatchery, Tom Lambourn, 25, caught the rare one-foot lobster and returned it to the sea.

“1 in 2 MILLION!! This incredibly beautiful bright blue lobster was found by brilliant Fishermen Tom Lambourn on this Cornish Coast over the weekend! Its a pretty rare colour morph to come across so we were amazed when Tom sent us the photo! 🦞
The lobster was too small to bring in to land so was popped back in the sea so it can keep growing!
Who knew that a crustacean could be SO vibrant!”
This is Lambourn’s second season of fishing. Had the lobster been larger, he did say he would have taken it to the National Hatchery. As it is, the photos he took were still quite amazing.
So glad the little guy has been returned to the sea.

  1. Wow!!! This lobster is absolutely gorgeous!!! I hope he lives a very long happy (for a lobster) lifetime!!!!!

It would be really interesting to see if he could be bred with another blue lobster and produce blue lobster babies……
