Chisolm, MN – A family is searching for answers after someone stole their German shepherd and killed him on the night before Thanksgiving. As reported by WDIO News, the seven-year-old shepherd, named Ruger, was in the yard on November 24 and someone took him. The family searched everywhere, but they couldn’t find their beloved dog.

A good Samaritan contacted Ruger’s owners, Cristin and Tom Skaudis, to let them know that the missing dog had been found – but he wasn’t alive. Ruger had been dumped on Cemetery Road by a bulldozer. Skaudis said:

“someone had hurt him and left him basically in the middle of nowhere, just dumped him.”

On the family’s fundraiser, his owners describe their dog’s sweet disposition, writing:

He was the sweetest boy. He loved every he came across. Our mail carrier even adored him because of his amazing disposition. He lived for our children. In the morning he would wake us, letting us know that the kids were ready to get up. If the kids were outside he would run circles just to make sure he knew where they all were. He also loved all animals. He was a gentleman and a gentle giant!

The local police have been notified about the cruel incident, and the family is offering a $1,300 reward for information which leads to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible for Ruger’s death. Find the fundraiser at this link.
